The Middle Game Chess Foundation, a registered New Zealand charity, was established in 2023 to support chess players, volunteers, teachers and coaches at all levels, and to encourage more young people to learn the game.

We are working hard to support the current and future generations of Chess players to help them excel in national and international Chess events but we need your support.

You can support the goals of the Foundation by making a donation (which is tax deductible) directly to our registered charity bank account or by leaving a gift in your will.

Gift by Will

As a chess player, you can help the Foundation by leaving a gift in your will, to ensure that learning and playing chess is enjoyed by future generations.

Through choosing to leave a gift in your will to the Middle Game Chess Foundation you will be providing long-term support to the game you love.

Your gift will be used for:

  • Grants to youth players to attend national and international tournaments
  • National lessons and workshops for players of all levels
  • Other initiatives that will advance the game of chess in New Zealand

How to leave a Gift in your Will to the Middle Game Chess Foundation

It is a simple process to leave a gift in your will. Your legal advisor can help you to prepare a new will or update an existing one to include a bequest to the Middle Game Chess Foundation.

The following wording is a guide when leaving a gift to the Middle Game Chess Foundation in your will:

’I give and bequeath to the Trustees of the Middle Game Chess Foundation (registered charity number CC60476) for its general purposes:

The residue of my estate

OR

% of my residuary estate

OR

A cash sum of $

OR

Other assets (e.g. property, shares, insurance policy)

A receipt given on behalf of the Middle Game Chess Foundation will be a complete discharge to my trustees for the bequest.’
