Murray Chandler (MNZM) is the only New Zealand Chess (over the board) Grandmaster.

He qualified for the title in 1983 and had a peak Fide rating of 2605 (July 1998). He is a former President of the New Zealand Chess Federation. Murray has written several best selling chess books for his company – Gambit Publications.
